Aria sketch art by Kisetsu
Having mentioned liking sketch art in the previous post, thought might be nice to show more such illustrations, this time by artist Kisetsu (Pixiv).
Spotted Kisetsu’s art online quite some time ago, while initially saw mainly “Strike Witches” sketches also ran into several gorgeous “Aria” sketches which I just had to share as they are really wonderful.
Like how Kisetsu renders the effect of shade and colors like that, really gives it that unique feeling such drawings have.
Akari’s happy-go-lucky expression is spot on in this lovely sketch, one can just imagine a typical scene from the manga or anime spawn from it where the cheerful undine finds a new miracle to enjoy in just looking up at the summer skies as clouds drift by.

Admire how Kisetsu managed to capture the cuteness of both undines, showing their deep bond as Alicia lovingly embraces her treasured Akari.
Although did like “Strike Witches” a lot, chose to show Kisetsu’s “Aria” art as I have been recently reading several of the original Japanese volumes of Kozue Amano’s “Aria” manga that haven’t been officially translated yet by Tokyopop.

Having before only experienced most chapters in their anime adaptation incarnation, was surprised to see some in their original manga form have subtle to key differences and not all characters are rendered the same.
Actually didn’t find Athena was always drawn as cute in the manga as she looked in the anime, in contrast Alice and Akari are always irresistibly cute in every single chapter!
Now surely those who are fans of the yuri genre will be keen to see art with an implicit yuri atmosphere like below.

While understandably necessary for the plot evolution and Akari’s future as a prima undine at Aria Company, Alicia’s retirement due to her getting married always felt rather sudden to me.
We actually never really saw that much about the three faeries’ lives outside of their undine occupation…
Now what if they had gone the route of this sketch, Alicia and Akira… why not? アリア社長が見てる…かな.
You can see more of Kisetsu’s art on the artist’s blog and on Pixiv.

Aria ^^
Thanks for the share! Very cute and well drawn.
Those sketches are pretty impressive, and I would also like to thank you for the find! It reminds me that I still have to learn how to shade.
Not to sound stalker-ish, but I noticed she posted a pic of herself in one of her recent entries! =D… she’s pretty cute *BLUSH* *SUGOI-SUGOI*

OOh ! I love these draw’, so cute and adorable ! Thank for this share (l)
Though I don’t think they ever explicitly say -who- Alicia marries either. ^^ Awesome art thanks for sharing!
@Jesus159159159
If that’s indeed her she’s a cutie to boot! Artists who make such wonderful art and are cute girls = WIN! XD
@白い牙
They never do say, do they? It all feels rather out of the blue and unexpected in the story to be honest as if Kozue Amano wasn’t sure how to write Akari’s graduation to prima and future out without rather drastically suddenly steering Alicia on a different course.
I’m in love with all Aria characters, yeah even the cats i love them so much !!!
This anime is so awesome… and wow those draws are amazing. They give full justice to the original show ^^
Thanks for sharing
Haha, yeah well because of that I always liked to delude myself that maybe she married Akira. ^^; Judging by this illustration Kisetsu also thinks this could be an option. ^^
@Katsura-chan
“Aria” is one of my all time favorite series. If you love the anime series definitely try the manga too, just as enchanting.
@白い牙
We can only hope and dream she did! ^^
Alicia still looks nice in sketch. Want to see colored version. As people said “talent is part of heaven”.
Thx for their pivix link!
