Anime spring season 2010

March 28, 2010

Seeing the upcoming spring season lineup, will definitely watch “K-ON!!”, the much anticipated second season of the slice-of-life school comedy about the light music club girls as well as “Shin Koihime†Musou: Otome Tairan”, the direct sequel to “Shin Koihime†Musou”.

Other series that piqued my interest are “Angel Beats!”, “Working!!” and possibly “Mayoi Neko Overun!”. Certainly “Working!!” looks interesting as a comedy.
A lot of series with exclamation marks in the title this season, aren’t there?

Saw there’s another “Ikki Tousen” series but will pass on watching it, while I love Kanu’s character the different series have always been a let down for me. Considering my workload will keep to watching a few select series only.

Actually ended up watching far less series during the winter season than I had first thought, “So-Ra-No-Wo-To” proved to be a stellar series and greatly enjoyed “Baka To Test To Shoukanjuu” as well as “To Aru Kagaku No Railgun”.
Never got into “Chu-Bra!”, more or less dropped “Omamori Himari” and fell behind on “Kiddy Girl-and”.

What are your picks for the spring season?

    I’ll be watching K-ON, Working, Mayoi neko overrun, b-gata kei. Will take a look at Angel Beats and Kiss x Sis. May pay attention to what other bloggers say about shaft’s anime although i dont think ill be watching it.

    During the winter season I loved kimi ni todoke, hanamaru youchien, sora no woto, hidamari sketch and bakatesto, and liked toaru kagaku no railgun (a strong first part but a weaker second part), chuu bra and ladies vs butlers.

    Omamori himari was OK, nothing really bad and nothing really interesting

    @Sergio
    Although from what I saw “Hidamari Sketch” should be right up my alley, I never bothered to watch it and catching up now seems rather daunting since it’s at its third season.
    Won’t bother with “Kiss x Sis”, started to watch parts of the OVA and that series crosses the line way too far for me. >_<

    I’m pretty type A otaku to your apparent type B, and none of the shows you watched were all that entertaining to me. Railgun was a complete trainwreck, Bakatest was repetitive but tolerable, Hanamaru was about the same but a little more charming, and Woto was all over the place and collapsed on itself in the end.

    Since the moe thing just doesn’t do it for me, I’m really only interesting in the ongoing series and House of Five Leaves. I will still give Working, Arakawa, Yojou-han, Night Raid, and Angel Beats a shot, but I doubt they’ll be all that great. Just out of curiosity I’ll see whether B Gata H Kei is worth anything, like I did with Ladies vs Butlers (and I expect even less from Gata). If I’m desperate I’ll catch up on Sketch and Heartcatch for the lulz.

    Angel Beats,
    Mayoi Neko Overrun!
    Ichiban Ushiro no Daimaō
    Working!!
    Arakawa under the bridge
    Kiss x Sis
    Shin Koihime†Musou ~Otome Tairan~
    K-On!!
    and of course BRS.

    I will watch all those. Maybe even more. When I’m bored. xD

    But I think BRS will be a 50 min one episode Anime. Somehow it looks like this.

    Angel Beats for me probably could me more until I see the final lineup :D

    Definitely watching K-On!
    Interested in Angel Beats, Mayoi Neko, and BRS.
    Other than that, not to interested in the others.

    There are so many interesting shows for the spring season. It looks like I’ll be picking up a few.
    I bareley watched anything from this season(I haven’t even started on Sora no Woto )

    So far I’ll be watching Angel Beats and maybe Senko no Night Raid. Not sure about the rest yet, will decide once I see the first episodes of them.

    The angel beat looks interesting, though I think I would pass on Ikkitosen since I couldn’t even stomach their last season, I gave up on the first episode. Still no keion for me unless they make the girls less airhead :P

    Kaichou wa Maid-sama is a definite yes. It’s currently my top pick amongst the rom-comedy mangas I’m reading.

    unpatiently waiting for BRS. angel beats and k-on!

    Arakawa under the Bridge – there’s something about the PV that captured my eye. Looks deep and somewhat promising.

    Hey i dont know if you saw in your ”about me”
    but you want to do blog link exchange? ^^

    @temperus
    Am not one to categorize people in types, find it quite a silly concept actually.
    Don’t think “So-Ra-No-Wo-To” was all over the place, it displayed clever writing, user of different elements and genres to bring a potent story with likable characters. If only more series were like that!
    @GREW
    That’s quite the list! Did you see the “Kiss X Sis” OVA? It crossed the lines a bit too far for me to be enjoyable.
    @Yi
    Many seem to be interested in BRS, maybe I’ll have to give it a try too.
    @solwyvern
    Well there seem to be a bit more interesting series than past Winter season but I haven’t been that impressed with the overall lineup yet.
    @Nopy
    A good idea! I’ll probably best sample a few other series too to check how they are, might be a few good ones among them.
    @Wolfheinrich
    Alas “Ikki Tousen” has always been pretty much of a train wreck in each season or incarnation.
    The K-ON! girls airheaded? I wouldn’t consider them airheaded, but if “K-ON!” isn’t your genre I respect that.
    @Fabrice
    Honestly “Kaichou wa Maid-sama” sounds like it might be good but I’m afraid the style will be a bit too shoujo audience oriented for me to be likable. I have no idea what to think about “Arakawa under the Bridge”, it might be deliciously alternative, probably best catch the first episode to see what it’s like.
    Oh! I totally didn’t catch that Fabrice, sorry. >_<
    Sure, would love to link exchange.

    oooh Just saw the Hyakka Ryoran PV now I’ll have to add that to my list ^_^

  13. April 1, 2010 1:05 am

    Without watch any trailer, I choose B Gata H Kei, Kiss X Sis and Angel Beats!

    @Devastator001
    “Hyakka Ryoran” indeed looks awesome, but is it already airing this spring season? 0_o
    Thought it was only airing later on.
    @TaikutsuJoker
    Am uncertain about “B Gata H Kei” actually, could be a nice romantic comedy but am not sure.

    I just took a very quick view and nothing really picked my interest :/
    But when it comes to animes i don’t like doing plans because in the end i never follow what i planned :)
    That reminds me i didn’t finished any of the winter shows i started. Lol :P

  16. April 2, 2010 12:26 am

    I must get Angel Beats and K-ON!! Others maybe try some 2~3 episode first.

  17. May 8, 2010 5:22 pm
