Tony Taka C78 doujin ‘原画&ラフ集’
While at C77 Tony Taka released the doujin ‘Hitagi ONESIDE’, a series themed book with full page color illustrations followed by a black and white h story as is the artists’ typical Comiket custom, for C78 we saw a rather different release.
Next to the usual dakimakura and other goods, this Comiket T2 Art Works published the book ‘原画&ラフ集’ (げんが &ラフしゅう) which can be translated as ‘Original and rough images collection’.

Although the least explicit in nature, this is easily my favorite artwork from the book, very cute and drop dead gorgeous! No one except Tony Taka could make the physical principles of quantum theory looks so hot.
Containing barely a handful of full page color illustrations, the book is mainly comprised of full page line art & sketches of works previously published in Comiket doujinshi or other books.

The lack of new material is partially made up though by a high page count approaching almost 80 pages.
Do love seeing sketch art, that phase of an artist’s creative process, but here Tony’s sketches and line art are rather sober, almost too polished with minimal line strokes which makes it alas a less interesting book for me.

Nonetheless, Tony Taka’s mastery does show even in the line art and quite possibly this book can be more of interest to those who are usually not keen on the explicit and sensual nature of this artist’s oeuvre and may now appreciate it thanks to it looking more benign in this black and white line art stage.

A different formula that also might have worked well could have been to see the full color finished art one one page and on the other the line art & sketch phase.
Those of you interested in this C78 release by T2 Art Works can still pick it up at Toranoana and if you want to take a peek before deciding to purchase it, you can always check out these scans.

@Wolfheinrich
No doubts there. His art is amazing. ^^
@Sergio
Yeah, makes it a bit of a shame there’s not more new artworks in this doujin.
@Michael Flux
Tony’s coloring has been very consistent, while it doesn’t look subdued, it forgoes the very vivid colors many artist use but instead he uses shading and believable tones which add even more depth and realism to his work.
@Leonia
Me too, a prime example of how he need not use nudity to draw a very sensual yet also cute girl. Love it!
