Portraits of Shizuko
Although they’re from some weeks ago, hadn’t uploaded these photos of Shizuko yet, taken late on a midsummer evening when the low sun cast really lovely light on the wall.
While but a small section of the wall basked in the light coming through a nearby window, the white painted bricks seemed an ideal background.
Posing Shizuko against the wall, tried to combine various orientations of her gaze and different angles from which to snap photos. Love how the light created a vibrant glow on her wig. She’s so adorable!
Some of the shooting angles created interesting results together with the rather specific light, warm white balance and color vibrancy.
Am quite pleased with most of the photos.
Initially wasn’t a fan of the DDH03 head, which is also used for the default Yukino face, but when I saw this irresistible custom head by ももいろ＊マンボウ didn’t hesitate for a second.
Was still concerned the facial expression might not be versatile enough, however while making these photos, discovered Shizuko’s DDH03 based facial sculpt is indeed versatile.
Just a quick snapshot, was surprised afterward to see how this photo turned out as it gives Shizuko a totally different aura.
As if she were downcast, depressed,… or perhaps angry and ready to gaze up with eyes ablaze?
Similar, the above photo is also one where Shizuko is purposely not angled towards the lens.
Here, her eyes and most of her face are in fact hidden from view, yet personally I feel the resulting image is still potent, carrying enough expression with it.
Love the look of the “K-ON!” uniform for Shizuko, though next to the summer set from Puppy52Dolls don’t have much other outfits specifically for her. Might have to look for extra clothing sets for Shizuko.

As you say, the simple white brick background provides a contrasting background, but still enough detail / interest for it not to be pure white.
I like how the photos also have a processed feel about them? (is that the right word? Kinda colour-crushed)
And of course, Shizuko looks cute as always! I noticed the slightly flipped collars too ^^

Thanks. Yeah, it’s a nice background.
Did pull these photos through Adobe Lightroom, but mostly only did slight white balance correction (though not all the way) and added +4 or +5 vibrance setting. Besides that they’re pretty much as they came out of the camera, it was the light. In comparison, here’s a photo when clouds drifted by: http://www.flickr.com/photos/40588969@N06/4959025803/

Aaahh I sees – It looks like a 60s / 70s style, crushed colours and then tinted to magenta, though I still don’t know if that makes sense lol
