The season is changing to autumn and as Akira struggles to wake up, she sees that her mother has taken out Fujigaya’s winter uniform for her to wear.
Running late because she had fallen asleep again, Akira meets Fumi at the train station like every morning. Glad to see her dear friend, Fumi has a hearty laugh at hearing the reason for Akira’s tardiness and the girls enjoy the beautiful scenery as the train passes the coastline.

Helping out the literature club by storing away old books from Matsuoka’s school library, Fumi catches sight of the curtains fluttering near the open window as she walks through the isles of packed bookshelves.
Thinking back, the bespectacled girl is reminded of the time she and Yasuko shared their first kiss there in the library. Luckily her classmates are quick to pull her from that melancholic reverie.

The day of Kazusa and Kagami’s wedding has arrived, while Kazusa’s father is visibly feeling melancholic, both Yasuko and Kuri cannot hide the regret and pain that shows through in their gaze.
While she’s talking to Kazusa, it becomes obvious that Yasuko has a hard time with seeing her sister marry Kagami, but the kind bride manages to smooth things over, her words hitting the right cords. Kazusa asks her younger sister to still congratulate her.

Driven to the wedding by her brother Shinobu, as usual an energetic Akira argues with him in the car on their way there.
Meeting with Kyouko and Kou, they walk towards the church and soon run into Yasuko, who thanks them for coming. She spontaneously invites both Kou and Shinobu to attend the ceremony as well, much to Akira’s dismay who doesn’t like it one bit to have her brother tag along.

Driven by Shinobu to the summer villa owned by Kou’s family, Akira, Fumi, Kyouko, Yoko, Miwa and Misako are excited about their summer trip together. The girls already have quite a laugh on the way there at Akira and Shinobu’s sibling quarrels.
Arriving at the summer villa, the girls are impressed at its size, from the many rooms to the adjacent tennis court.
Strolling through the hall before joining the others back outside, Fumi notices a painting of a lone birch tree. Admiring the piece, she is told it was painted by Kyouko.

Valiantly facing Kyouko in a game of tennis, Yoko alas must admit defeat at the blond girl’s impressive racket skills, much to the amusement of her friends.
Meanwhile, Kou has Shinobu accompany him for a game of golf, even though Akira’s brother doesn’t know how to play.
Excusing his selfishness for having him tag along, Kou says he admires how Shinobu cares for his younger sister. Shinobu retorts that he probably goes too far at times, because he can’t help but worry at times.

Rain pours down as a storm rages outside, much like the turmoil inside Fumi’s heart. Having been rejected by Yasuko who told her that they can no longer be going out, Fumi fights a losing battle to keep from crying.
Unsure why the bespectacled girl is so adamant on heading home, Yasuko’s mother and sisters are at a loss, though Kuri soon suspects Yasuko may have said or done something horrible to Fumi, so she agrees to take the distraught girl home.

Driving through the pitch black night, Kuri asks Fumi if she had a fight with Yasuko. When Fumi asks Yasuko’s older sister if it is indeed the adviser of Fujigaya’s theater club that her upperclassman is in love with, Kuri shocks Fumi by revealing that Kagami is going to marry their sister Kazusa in September.
Meeting Fumi at the train station the next morning, Akira enthusiastically inquires how the visit at Yasuko’s house went. Reluctant to answer, Fumi instead asks to go watch a movie together after school.

Now that the plays held at Fujigaya are over, Akira and Kyouko are driven home by Kou, who compliments them on the “Wuthering Heights“ performance.
Hearing Kou say how impressed he was with the portrayal of Heathcliff, Kyouko cannot help but think back how some upperclassmen revealed that Yasuko was in tears when their teacher Kagami had praised her.

Restless, Fumi thinks back on Yasuko’s revelation that she had been in love with someone before, and even though it was a one sided love, she somehow felt she was betraying Fumi that way.
The next morning, Fumi calls up Akira, who was still in bad as her school has a day off and the girls soon decide to go out together. As Akira wonders if Matsuoka is also having a day off, Fumi is forced to confess she’s skipping class.
