Blue Blue Wave

A small parcel from Amazon Japan was delivered to my doorstep by Fedex today, the “Candy☆Boy” volume 2 DVD that I had pre-ordered. What a great way to start the week!

Of course, went for the ‘Lovely’ version if not only for the great cover art of Yukino and Kanade that mimics the volume 1 cover, but now showing the girls even closer and with different hairstyles.

It was shipped out to me last week Thursday so it arrived rather quickly.

Ended up being billed 4792 Yen for the DVD itself since Amazon’s pre-order system guarantees that if the price of an item decreases between the time you place your order and the time they ship it out to you, you will be billed at the the lowest price.
Very convenient if you observe at the time of this post the DVD is priced at 6120 Yen, so saved quite a bit on it.

The volume 2 DVD contains the “Candy☆Boy” EX02 episode, a DVD exclusive which you can read all about in my review of this extra episode.

It is a cold winter day, even though outside everything is covered by a blanket of white snow and thick snowflakes continue to fall from the skies, Kanade finds herself in a tropical indoor pool, clad in a cute swimsuit and victim of a sharp photo lens.

At the other end of the camera that continuously snaps pictures is her fervent admirer Sakuya, who turned the pool into a professional photo studio complete with lighting umbrellas and an assistant to hold up the light reflector board.

That willing assistant is of course Yukino, who gleefully allies with Sakuya in the photo frenzy.

When Kanade starts to question why they’re at a pool in the middle of winter and why she is the token model for the day, Sakuya happily confesses the photos she is taking will be used to create a dakimakura with Kanade’s bikini clad likeness on it.

Waiting outside the cake shop where Yukino is working part time, Kanade is lost in thought, feeling lonesome as if her beloved sister is not a few yards from her but rather hundreds of miles away, and she wonders how they got like this.

Not long before, when Kanade had revealed she wanted to attend the art lab organized by her teacher during spring break because she can not afford an expensive cramming school, Yukino said she would get a part time job to help Kanade pay for the extra classes.

Kanade had sternly objected because not only did she not want to burden Yukino but she felt it would make them both be so busy they would hardly be able to spend any time together.
The two sisters disagreed and even though Yukino tried her best to diffuse the situation, their relationship became more tense.

A few days later, while staying late in art class, Kanade received a call from Yukino to hear that Yukino took on a part time job after all.

Forced to resubmit most of her art class assignments, Kanade is exhausted after a meeting with her teacher late at school. Having heard she nearly flunked and her teacher is worried about her academic future, Kanade is relieved to see her sister Yukino waiting for her.

Yukino encourages Kanade to get a grip and pay more attention to her studies, after which both sisters playfully tease each other.
Seeing a flier about the new school dorm inscriptions, Yukino remarks they should get some cardboard boxes already to prepare for the move.

The next day at school, the girls browse through a folder detailing everything about their new dorm. After Kanade spots the single large room occupying the fifth floor, a sparkling Sakuya reveals it’s a love nest destined for her and Kanade.

With Yukino and Kanade respectively giving her mystified and annoyed looks, Sakuya descends into her own fantasy about living together with Kanade. Pulling out a subscription form for admission into the new dorm with their names on it, Sakuya urges Kanade to sign it.
