With the Valentine’s Day card event about to end, Sachiko goes to Yumi’s side and asks her to stand up, but before Yumi can do so, Touko barges in. Asking for forgiveness, Touko exclaims she wants to become Yumi’s petite sœur, much to everyone’s shock.
Yumi stands up in surprise, revealing the red Valentine’s day was hidden on her chair the entire time.

Interrupting the moment between Yumi and Touko, Mami asks what to do about the card as the event has now ended. Sachiko offers that while she had asked Yumi to stand up, the one who actually made Yumi get up was Touko, so she should have the card.

When the students have all gathered, Mami and the Yamayuri council present the Valentine Day event winners, Chisato and Touko, who respectively found Yoshino’s yellow card and Yumi’s red card, only Shimako’s white card was not found.
After the announcement, Yumi, Yoshino and Shimako hand out chocolates to all the participants.

The next day, the girls of the Yamayuri are curious what happened afterwards between Yumi and Touko, if they have made any date plans or called each other. When Yumi reveals she’s yet to meet with Touko, Yoshino dashes off to fetch her but Yumi stops her.

Having lost her temper against Yumi, Touko broke down in tears once she realized it was all due to her own misunderstanding. To Touko’s relief, Noriko appeared and comforted her.

The next day at school Touko acts as if nothing happened and when Noriko questions her what she plans to do about the Valentine Day’s card hunt, Touko bluntly replies it’s none of her concern.

Meeting her grande sœur in class, Yumi wants to give Sachiko Valentine’s Day chocolates, but Sachiko takes her outside so her classmates will not witness it. Puzzled at Sachiko’s intent, Yumi hears that last year Sachiko turned down all the chocolates she was given, except those from Yumi, so she prefers to receive them in private.

Happy at being able to see her grande sœur’s reaction upon receiving the home made chocolates, Yumi is surprised when Sachiko also gives her chocolate.
Sachiko explains that she was so happy to receive chocolates from Yumi last time, she wanted to return those feelings this year.

Late at night, Touko kneels besides her mother’s bed, tightly holding onto the crying woman’s hand who softly whimpers asking after her missing baby.

When her father comes home, he’s surprised to see Touko is still up and says she shouldn’t push herself so hard, to stop carrying such a heavy burden and start anew with a blank canvas.
Touko says she never really gave anything back to them for their kindness, but her father reassures her that they have all received plenty from Touko in return.

The next day in school, Touko goes to the theater club to apologize for her prolonged absence. Glad to see her, the club’s president spurs her on to not abandon theater but to step up on the stage, where she belongs.

Saying she’s always been watching her, the club president asks Touko to become her petite sœur.
When Touko hesitates, the club president ponders if it’s because of Yumi, after which she goes on to say Touko should forget about Yumi for she will never be able to be Yumi’s petite sœur without changing herself.

Distraught, Touko is shocked when the club president embraces her tightly, saying she’ll protect Touko from now on. The ensuing silence is broken by Touko’s soft whisper of apology.

Yumi, Yoshino and Shimako have been officially elected to be the next Lillian student council members while Touko, who surprisingly also participated, has not.
Seeing Touko walk away from the gathering of students, Yumi’s first reaction is to go after her but she suddenly stops in her tracks.
Puzzled, Noriko asks Yumi if she won’t go after Touko to which Yumi replies that it’s fine if she doesn’t but that Noriko can go if she wants to.

Noriko seems to be unable to understand Yumi’s motivation, even when she’s whisked away by Shimako to attend their duties now that they’ve been elected.
Uncertain, Noriko ponders what is hidden behind Yumi’s smile, it somehow feels to her that Yumi is far away, somewhere she cannot reach.

When Sachiko gets home from school, she sees Suguru has come over to visit, having brought customary souvenirs from his skiing trip.
Noticing right away something is bothering Sachiko, the two about what has been happening between Touko and Yumi.

Suguru reveals that when Touko had a fight with her family earlier during the winter holidays, she had ran away from home and ended up at Yumi’s house, much to Sachiko’s surprise.

School has started again after the winter holidays, despite of what happened between them, Touko acts normal yet somewhat distant towards Yumi, making the latter ponder what is really going on in Touko’s mind.
Though there’s little time for Yumi to think much about it as elections for Lillian’s student council are coming up. Being members of the Yamayuri and second year students, Yumi, Yoshino and Shimako of course submit their candidacy to run in the election.

Even though there is an official election for the student council positions -the en boutons of the Roses of the Yamayuri do not inherit the official student council positions by default- traditionally there are no other candidates but the en boutons, so they are always elected.

The day of the candidacy submissions arrives, as expected Yumi, Yoshino and Shimako seem to be the only candidates. However, a few minutes later, a first year student appears wanting to submit her candidacy as well and to the girls’ shock it is none other than Touko.
Though unorthodox and near unheard of a first year student that isn’t part of the Yamayuri to submit her candidacy, they allow her to participate.
