Another Orchid

Had already shown a few photos made of some Orchids before, still had these few to share of some Orchids in a flower arrangement set that I photographed shortly after getting the100mm macro lens for my Canon DSLR.
Gained more experience since making these but still glad with how they turned out, especially the first and third photo which have nice colors, very faithful and neither too under- or oversaturated.
Have been reading the photography guidebook “Understanding Exposure” by Bryan Peterson, found it quite interesting for an amateur like myself and helps understand some of the important basics.

Still had these snapshots around of flowers and leaves taken on a warm, sunny day.
It’s been a lot cooler here these past days so alas it looks like summer season is over, luckily these photos do remind me of the soothing warm sun rays of this year’s summer.
As usual, took these photos using the Canon 450D, equipped with Canon’s EF 100mm f/2.8 macro USM lens.
Because the macro lens can capture so much detail that often gets lost when downsizing, again chose to include a crop out of a section of these photos, so you can have a better look at some of the minute details.

Cookie macro

While had previously shared some macro photos of stained glass, flowers and insects that I had made with the Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 macro USM lens, not all of them really show the true potential of this lens.
Although at my level am not yet qualified or skilled enough to get everything out of this lens and macro photography, was still able to make some nice shots like the ones below.
“What on earth am I looking at?” might you ask, well… you’re looking at a chocolate chip cookie! クッキーですよ。本当だ!
An unresized crop out of a section of the original image as captured by the Canon 450D, it shows every minute detail on the cookie’s surface like the chocolate bits, the sometimes even crystalline appearing dough.

Orchids

During a bright sunny day, was able to make photos of some beautiful Orchids. Very colorful, absolutely stunning flowers, these particular ones are of the Phalaenopsis species if I’m not mistaken.
The flower’s shape can be quite unique and varied across the different species.
I’ve grown fond of capturing such colorful flowers with my camera.
No doubt this may in part be related to what also attracts me to anime and its art, the bright, lively colors, giving it such a radiance that just bubbles with life and energy.

Had already shown a few photos made of a rose in a flower arrangement, but still have these other shots of that same set that I hadn’t shared yet.
Looking at them, actually feel these shots not only turned out better, but are more interesting.
Lovely shot with as center the flower stem, adored the different colors in the flower set. Though the colors aren’t overly saturated but more subdued they created a wonderful synergy that looked enchanting through the viewfinder.
Although these were some of my first trials with the Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 macro USM lens after I had initially bought it a while ago, still do like the results a lot.
