Tony Taka art based Kotone Ousaka figure

January 30, 2009

Saw figure collector Danny Choo spotted a report with plenty of photos at Hobby Stock for the upcoming Kotone Ousaka figure by Native, due out in June 2009.

Based on an artwork by artist Tony Taka that was included in his Comiket 74 “Macross Frontier” oriented doujin “Deculture” , the 1/7 scale PVC figure seems to be a very accurate reproduction of Kotone as she’s seen in the illustration.

Down to the smallest details in the pose, clothing and facial expression, it looks really spot on.

Especially the sensual atmosphere and Kotone’s slightly pursing lips seem very well rendered in the figure, an impeccable reproduction of the original illustration as you can see below. (Click the image to view a larger version.)

And for the more daring among us, the figure will be fully cast off-able, allowing owners to remove both top and bottom of Kotone’s white two piece.
Though personally I would let her remain as in the original illustration, looks far more teasing and enticing as such.

Suggested retail price is 8000 Yen, a significant price for a 1/7 scale figure, but it seems lately most prices of new released and to be released figures have increased.
(Noticed this for the 1/8 scale PVC figure of Horo from “Spice & Wolf” and 1/7 scale PVC figure of Saber Lily from “Fate/stay night” by Good Smile Company as well. Steeper prices.)

Depending on what online shops will offer the figure, I think I may try and purchase it, such an accurate rendering of one of Tony Taka’s artworks isn’t to be missed. We can only hope more figures based on Tony’s illustrations will be made in the future!
