Finally more trap Hayate!

June 23, 2009

After teasing fans with enticing images of Hayate clad in maid clothes in the “Hayate No Gotoku!!” OVA, seemingly promising us no small dose of trap Hayate service scenes in the series’ second season, such scenes have alas been scarce to non-existent.

Luckily the past two “Hayate No Gotoku!!” episodes gifted us with plenty of trap Hayate scenes to make up for the earlier lack thereof.

黒のストッキング、純白のエプロン、メード服、猫耳、萌え萌えキュン!

In an incredulous story where Hayate -conveniently- falls victim to a crossdressing curse, these episodes are rife with cute and hilarious scenes of Hayate in maid clothes, even evolving into mini skirted rabbit ear outfit.

Let us be honest, with Hayate looking so disarmingly cute in female clothing and being voiced by the delicious Shiraishi Ryoko, how can one resist?

Wonder what it would have been like if they had made Hayate a female character? A yuri maid love comedy? It could work!

People may ask where the appeal of “Hayate No Gotoku!” lies, for with its high episode number, often episodic nature and overarching plot that seems to go nowhere it would just seem like an average comedy.

Truth be told, not all episodes achieve the same level but when “Hayate No Gotoku!” started, it quickly became a weekly rendezvous for a half hour full of laughter and humour. You would always wonder in what crazy story they would throw this eclectic mix of oddball characters in.

Once “Hayate No Gotoku!” ended its run, missed seeing those familiar faces and even though with the new season I am not convinced the story will become grand or really go anywhere, this show always makes me laugh and curious to see each week’s new episode.

You can also feast your eyes on this nice illustration by artist Komeko of maid Hayate in various poses, found on moe imouto.

Next to this week’s Hayate trap fest, adored the “Gundam Seed” and “Neon Genesis Evangelion” crossover when Hinagiku appeared in a Lacus Clyne/Meer Campbell reminiscent stage dress and sang ‘Cruel Angel Thesis’ (残酷な天使のテーゼ).
The vocals by Shizuka Itou (who voices Hinagiku) of ‘Cruel Angel Thesis’ were actually taken from the “Hayate No Gotoku! Character Cover CD” where she does an amazing job covering the song.

Can’t wait to see next week’s Hayate antics!

Don’t care much for Hayate in maid outfit but Hinagiku singing Cruel Angel’s Thesis is more my style ^^

This trap Hayate stuff is probably one of the reason why I never really got into this series. The first few episodes of first season was interesting, but it just went downhill for me from there, never picked it up again. My little brother been following it though.

Indeed, Shizuka Itou really sounds sublime when she sings Cruel Angel Thesis, love her version. ^^

Not all episodes are that good, but I still love the series, also like the fact that it doesn’t take itself too seriously and quite often openly mocks itself. ^^

Anyhoot, I laughed and LAUGHED when Hayate was crossdressing XD He’s very trappy indeed, but then again his seiyuu is female anyway 😛
