Kagome C76 doujin “Jangling Automaton”

September 13, 2009

Showcased some of artist Kagome’s “K-ON!” illustrations when I previously spoke of the Character Image Song albums for Azusa, Ritsu and Tsumugi.

From the circle ‘Traumatize’, Kagome (籠目, homepage, Pixiv) released the “K-ON!” centric doujin ‘Jangling Automation’ at Comiket 76.

Keion girls

Many artists have drawn the light music club girls in their outfits from the anime ending sequence animation to “Don’t Say Lazy”, but don’t often see illustrations that place the girls in a background that perfectly fits those outfits, which Kagome achieved to do here.

Really like Kagome’s style, always prone to adore the work of artists who render cute girls using such a style or similar, and here it’s coupled with excellent coloring and shading.

Mio and Ritsu at the beach

Lovely illustration of Mio in bikini inspired by the second music training camp… wait, rather make that beach filled fun episode, as seen in the series. Kagome really captured both Mio and Ritsu’s characters perfectly, their expressions and body language is spot on as it was in the anime.

A nice comedic touch is Azusa throwing a beach ball at Yui in the background, no doubt trying to fend off her upperclassman.

Azusa and the other Keion girls

Wish there would have been more illustrations that prominently include Azusa, like this one of all the けいおん girls in their school uniforms with Yui as usual unable to resist Azusa’s cuteness.
Can just imagine Yui going 梓ーちゃんかわいい followed by a 先輩もうやめって下さい.

While primarily focused on “K-ON!” and the light music club girls, the full color doujin also contains a few illustrations of other characters, like Hatsune Miki or the terrific artwork of Okazaki Tomoya and Fujibayashi Kyou from “Clannad” that you see below.

Kyou and Tomoya

No doubt inspired by the “Clannad ~ Another World: Kyou Chapter” OVA which focuses on a alternate story where we get a romantic conclusion between Kyou and Tomoya.
While I wasn’t too fond of the short hair style Kyou received in the OVA, Kagome’s rendition of her with short hair makes her gorgeously cute.

Bath towel clad Mio

Don’t hold me responsible for a swift death induced by explosive bloodnose after viewing Kagome’s irresistibly sexy illustration of a bath towel clad Mio.
But no one can deny it wouldn’t be a good way to go with such a lovely image of Mio forever burned into your retina.

Alas haven’t been able to win Kagmone’s C76 release on Yahoo! Japan auction, so the illustrations on the artist’s website and scans at moe imouto will have to do for now.

    @Wishbone
I loved both “Clannad” OVA’s, both Tomoyo and Kyou’s stories were well executed and paced, even for a mere 25 minute long episode.

True! The world and “K-ON!” can always have more Azunyan! ^^
