Gofu’s So-Ra-No-Wo-To sketches
Had been a while since I visited Gofu’s website, was glad to see the artist seems to have taken a liking to ‘So-Ra-No-Wo-To’ and created several excellent sketches of the cute girls from the 1121st platoon.
Especially like this black and white illustration of the lively Kanata, just with pencil styled strokes as well as clever use of pose and eye rendering, Gofu perfectly captures Kanata’s joyful and refreshing personality.
The image conveys the same sense of lightheartedness her character has, as if one were to exhale all their worries to leave only the brightness Kanata sees in everyday life.
Was very surprised at the tragedy and depth Felicia’s character was shown to have in last week’s episode. It is uncommon for the gentle, caring mother type character she is usually portrayed as to have gown to be like that after the ordeal she went through, a welcome character evolution.
Gofu also created excellent sketches of Noel and Kureha. While Noel looks even more deadpan serious than usual, Kureha’s expression of subdued shock mixed with disbelief seems to suggest she just caught Kanata hugging Rio,… or worse.
Be sure to check out Gofu’s homepage for more artworks by this artist.

Have always liked Gofu’s sketch style, it may look simple compared to full color works but its really terrific art.
