Shin Koihime†Musou Otome Tairan 1
Caught an early airing of the first “Shin Koihime†Musou ~Otome Tairan~” episode, which also featured a short presentation by Nami Kurokawa who voices Kan’u in the series as well as Hitomi Nabatame who voiced Kanu in “Ikki Tousen”.
This new “Shin Koihime†Musou” season starts where the previous season left off, after having saved the Chou sisters, Kan’u and her friends enjoy quiet days in the village. While Sei is still missing, no need to worry as she soon resurfaces and joins the gang again.
The girls’ quiet and uneventful days come to an end though when they think Ryuubi is pregnant and about to give birth. Ultimately revealed to be nothing more but a severe indigestion, how could Koumei and the girls have made such a horribly wrong assumption about Ryuubi’s predicament?
A few days earlier, when resting near a cherry tree to admire the blooming blossoms, Chouhi relishes in taking an afternoon nap using Ryuubi’s thighs as pillow, gleefully commenting Ryuubi’s thighs are much softer than Kan’u’s.
Examining her thighs and belly that evening, Ryuubi decides to loose some weight. Alas it proves no easy task for Ryuubi, since Koumei continuously cooks her favorite dishes.
Lamenting her stomach is not getting any flatter, Ryuubi notices that Bachou never seems to gain any weight and swiftly starts to feel her friend’s stomach when Bachou enters fresh out of the bath, wearing only her robe.
Unsure what Ryuubi is up to, Bachou blushes beet red and her flailing soon sends the two of them toppling to the ground. Coming in to check what the commotion is about, Koumei sees Ryuubi and Bachou in state of undress, sprawled over each other and she makes the wrong assumption as to what is going on.
Deciding to join Bachou and Batai for training, the harsh physical challenges prove too much for Ryuubi so she quickly gives up on that idea and simply skips dinner altogether, which causes Kan’u and the others to wonder what is the matter. Unfortunately the girls leap to the impossible conclusion Ryuubi must be pregnant.
Unable to bear the complaints from her empty stomach that night, Ryuubi raids the kitchen, eating some food which she doesn’t realize is actually spoiled. Suffering a severe belly ache the next day, Ryuubi unwillingly starts a panic when the girls believe she is entering labor.
Suggesting Bachou stay at Ryuubi’s side for she should take responsibility, Koumei’s words soon have Kan’u on Bachou’s case, thinking she somehow caused Ryuubi’s predicament, poor Bachou’s protests seem for naught.
Luckily Kada arrives in the village and swiftly heals Ryuubi from her food poisoning. Explaining he came to ask Kan’u and her friends for help, Kada introduces them the now cat ear endowed general Kasshin, who has been poisoned by Choujo, one of the Emperor’s advisers she had always opposed.
Revealing the poison will slowly turn Kasshin into a cat, Kada pleads the girls for help in gathering the necessary ingredients for an antidote. Agreeing the request, the girls soon head off on this new adventure.
Bachou and Ryuubi having a child together? Well, it could happen on Mid-Childa, but this is “Shin Koihime†Musou ~Otome Tairan~”, not “Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha StrikerS”.
Glad to see “Shin Koihime†Musou” return with its usual lighthearted humor style, though the opening sequence of this season might indicate we’re in for more serious action as we see all the girls brandishing their signature weapons. Wonder if we’ll see all the girls and factions band together in defeat of the new common enemy?
Animation is fully in line with the previous seasons, with excellent care taken for character’s faces and plenty of chibi character scenes. The ending song seemed less energetic than in the previous two seasons though while the opening track is the same rock/pop styled song with a few nice guitar riffs.
To sign off, I support Kasshin with cat ears and in fact advocate more of the girls get cat ears and continue on with the yuri antics like Bachou and Ryuubi did in this episode.
