K-ON! vs Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann

August 15, 2010

An epic Dollfie Dream confrontation! The fated battle between the irresisible sniper from “Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann” and a shy student from class 3-2 of “K-ON!”.

Defeated earlier by Yoko who proudly showcased her shapely curves, although she’s a mild mannered girl, Shizuko is not one to wallow in despair but rose to face her challenger head on.

So the battle begins… wait, something is not entirely right here…

As you can see, purely for fun went for a roles reversed look for Shizuko and Yoko, with Shizuko being clad in Yoko’s “Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann” gear while Yoko wears the “K-ON!” school uniform.

Roles reversed

The difference between the DDDy and DDII body types become even more apparent when switching outfits like this.

Dollfie Dream owners will no doubt recognize the differences not only in size, but also how the chest piece line is lower on a DDII, the DDDy’s higher chest piece edge can make it more aesthetic when wearing certain tops and other similar clothing.

Shizuko as Yoko

Although being designed for DDDy body, didn’t have any issues getting Yoko’s “Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann” gear on Shizuko who’s an DDII M bust body type, of course as expected certain parts were rather loose fitting.

Next to the bikini top, the hot-pants nearly fell down sliding off her hips twice, being too big.

Yoko as Shizuko

In contrast, being designed for S/M bust DDII bodies, the “K-ON!” school uniform shirt and vest are visibly too small and do not properly fit the voluptuous curves of the DDDy chest.

The skirt was fine though, it sat a bit higher on the thigh part but nonetheless fit.

Roles reversed

Do adore Yoko’s facial sculpt and matching expression, it always has that aura of joy, liveliness, even a hint of mischievousness.

By comparison, the DDH03 head from which Shizuko was made has sharper features and can look downcast or sad, luckily the custom make-up on Shizuko is such that she can be versatile enough. Certain angles will make her look curious, others stern, etc…

Didn’t think of using a reflector board on the day I made these photos, a shame, luckily was able to filter out noise in shaded areas with Adobe Lightroom.

You can always see more DD shenanigans here or view more photos in my Dollfie photo collection on Flickr.

Didn’t have a chance to stop by but good job! I see you are noticing the main difference between DD II and DDDy here, the split line! Right on with the call on the larger hip for DDDy as well which enable them to pose in completely different style to that of DDII. Your girls need to go Yuri style, DOEET like this! http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4098/4861564111_a5275636ca_b.jpg

Do wonder if they’ll keep the DDII and DDDy body types existing side by side like that or if they will update the DDII with some of the DDDy body type elements, like the higher chest piece line.
That’s a nice photo, but my DD girls are sisters, they would never! Or… would they? =P

Well I don’t know if it is as easy as it sounds to just update the DDII with DDDy element, since they do have different posability, not just different bust sizes. IMO, the DDII and DDDY both have their unique poses. The respective clothing design also had to be different due to the posability as well. I exercises the various joints to do my DD poses so I am very skeptical on clothing are properly designed, not just to fit, but also be able to exercise the joints properly.

Actually, the K-ON! uniform top seems to work alright. It just gives her a ‘chest popping out’ sort of look. Not a bad thing, I say xD

That’s true, they’d need a smaller hip area too, but maybe a DDIII (?) will have that higher chest line piece. We’ll see. I do like how each body type has its own shape and aura, fitting different styles.

Impossible to close though, wearable, but barely. Yes, the “Why hello there lovely bazoongas peeking out!” force is strong there. XD
