The temptation of C78
The summer edition of Comiket was held last weekend, prime time for lovers of fine anime related art to seek out new artbooks and doujinshi. Icie from Hunting The Elusive posted a two part primer (part 1, part 2) that lists many artists’ planned C78 releases.
Ended up buying little to no items from the previous Comiket edition, will no doubt keep it moderate for this edition as well.
Am most interested in the new “More Check” illustration booklet and “Check Ero 3” h doujin by Kantoku (from 5年目の放課後). As usual Tony Taka (from T2 Artworks, homepage nsfw) released a plethora of stuff, including a doujin but the artist seemingly indicated having had little time to work on it.
Not sure about Mahiru Izimi (泉まひる, homepage nsfw) his release, looks like he’s mostly doing collaboration illustrations in other books. Goto-P is releasing a second “K-ON!” themed book, this time including Azusa who was missing from the first book.
Will I resist the temptation? And… what are you getting from C78?
I passed on C78 goods too. Yen is really strong right now and makes importing goods even more costly. That and I tend to spend more money on figures and DD stuff now anyway ^^;
anonymous_object: exactly opposite of me! I’ve slashed figure expenditure (although upped photography spend), and my DD spend has never amounted to much.
@anonymous_object
Might go for Tony and Kantoku’s books, but I always figure it’ll be cheaper to one day get them bulk when going to Japan. I too have moved most expenditures to DD and photography.
@icie
Have cut down on figures too, but more often find myself grabbing a few scans instead of trying to find some artbooks as they do add up.
This time I’m reducing a lot my money for Comiket ( I got 2 doujinshi, and I only plan to get 3 more ). Strong yen indeed, and this year has been pretty bad as I had a dead computer and I had to plan my trip to Canada. Lastly I’m moving next month again and I need to settle in my new town and I have college fee to pay.
Tony Taka’s works are incredibly sexy as always. Don’t think I’ll be getting anything from C78 though. Kind of tight on budget lately.
@Merun
Can fathom that, other expenses have diverted most of my budget too.
@Yi
Not too sure if Tony’s book will be worth it, from what he posted on his site and the sample pages, looks like it might be only a few new pieces.
