Fortune Arterial

October 10, 2010

Have quite a bit of series to sample with the start of the anime fall season! One of these is “Fortune Arterial”, the anime adaptation of the eroge by August which features illustrations by Bekkankou.

An artist with a cute and recognizable style, Bekkankou also illustrated the August creations “Yoake Mae Yori Ruriino Na”, ”Tsuki Wa Higashi No Ha Wa Nishi Ni” and “Aiyoku No Eustia”.

Comrade Wolfheinrich already reported positive impressions which increased my curiosity to watch the first episode and it certainly did not disappoint.

Most striking aspect was the high animation quality and production values by Zexcs, which seem to be among the best of the few series I sampled so far this season.

Good animation quality is a definite plus, as the previous anime adaptation of August franchise “Yoake Mae Yori Ruriino Na” left much to be desired and was rather disappointing. The anime series character design style for “Fortune Arterial” also remains close to the original style by Bekkankou.

Being based on an eroge, it comes as no surprise the main theme of the story is a harem tale spiced with comedy and fanservice, though the underlying vampire plot promises to deliver some action and drama as well.

As such the first episode followed the basic plot shenanigans of most similar series by introducing the male lead, the bulk of all girls who will be vying for his affection and the supporting cast.

Focusing on the cute Sendo Erika, the anime may very well end up following her arc or having the story revolve around her and Kohei, making them a fated pairing.

Have already expressed my personal favoring of eroge adaptations making a definite choice in the pairing storyline, so do hope they don’t create some wishy washy story where Kohei doesn’t make any choices and everything remains unresolved.

Although she hasn’t appeared yet, do wonder what Kiriha will be like, seeing she’s voiced by Narumi Erika who also did Koumei in “Shin Koihime†Musou”.
Haruna is voiced by Taguchi Hiroko, who also voices Sora in this season’s “Yosuga No Sora” and her sister Kanade is voiced by Nabatame Hitome who also did Kanade in “Candy☆Boy”, Kanu in “Ikki Tousen”, Shizuka in “Queen’s Blade” and many other roles.

With this show and the others I watched so far, looks like this season will be comprised mostly of harem and romantic comedies.

Looks like a nice show, I still have to watch it.

As you know, romantic comedies and harem are my favorite genres, so I’m as happy as a clam~

Think you might like it. Nothing too novel in it yet, but good animation, solid standard work so far. Plus the promise it might pull off something good.

Can’t say I’m too interested. It seems like another eroge turned harem anime. Taguchi Hiroko is nice though.

Well that’s exactly what it is. All I hope is that it does bring a definite story and not a wishy washy male lead chooses no girl ending.

Been so busy recently that I hadn’t realized you blogged about my favorite show! If somehow the anime fail to shine as a result of poor scripting, I will publish the original story myself! Like what I did for Yoake Mae Yori Ruriino Na!

So far it’s been decent, the eroge turns anime is a crowded field so for a series to shine it must usually do quite a bit.
