Okiura ‘IS: Infinite Stratos Visual Book’

Have been rather enjoying the “IS: Infinite Stratos” anime series, as you may have noticed from earlier musings about the show’s cute reverse trap Charlotte.

Originally a light novel series written by Izuru Yumizuru, artist Okiura provided the illustrations for the “IS インフィニット・ストラトス“ novels.

So who better than Okiura to draw a visual book featuring the IS maidens at their cutest?

The ‘IS: Infinite Stratos Visual Book’ is a short collection of illustrations of the different IS girls, showcasing them in beach wear, maid gear and some more daring imagery as well.

Charlotte does look irresistibly cute in her beach gear, the anime scene where she pulled Ichika into the changing booth was quite hilarious.

Okiura does seem to have a preference for Cecilia, Charlotte and Houki, looking at the various images one finds that Laura wasn’t featured that much and Lin barely appears at all in this short collection.

While the below illustration of Houki dripping wet fresh out of the shower with her towel slipping off is certainly rather daring, the above image of Cecilia is even more daring.

Lying in her bath, roses floating on the water and that facial expression with her finger to her pursed lips, mixing embarrassment with desire is not what we’re used to see from Cecilia. Surely no one would be able to resist Britain’s cutest IS pilot if one were to walk in on her looking like that!

Both those artworks are rather sensual and Okiura pulls them off well, would definitely like to see more such work from this artist in the future.

Okiura does have other terrific artworks featured on his homepage, including a lovely illustration of Azusa from “K-ON!”.

Charlotte and Laura do seem to be paired together a lot, even as gun toting maids they are adorably moe.

Actually do feel that the previous two anime episodes which includes the IS Academy students beach holiday shenanigans did suffer from obvious animation flaws in several scenes, hopefully these will be corrected in the future DVD/BluRay release.
