Homura, but not quite

March 27, 2011

Or would you call it Homura cosplay when cute girls like Azusa from “K-ON!” or Saten from “To Aru Kagaku No Railgun” are clad in the magic girl attire of the “Puella Magi Madoka Magica” character?

Creating a plethora of excellent illustrations featuring the けいおん girls as well as characters from “Working” or “Ore no Imouto ga Konna ni Kawaii Wake ga nai”, artist 碇 マナツ (Pixiv) has recently been making such Homura styled art.

Surprising how that cold, lethal gaze suits Azusa, she makes a very convincing Homura.

Quite like Ikari Manatsu’s crisp style, while his images aren’t overbearing with overly bright tones they still have vivid colors with a nice lighting atmosphere.

Saten still looks her adorable and playful self. Am not too sure if this costume really suits her overall visual look but as a Saten fan, am always in favor of good art featuring her.

This artist has previously done other themed series, such as one showcasing different characters like Nodoka clad in the outfits worn by Setsuna from “Gundam 00”.

If you like these images, you can see plenty more of Ikari Manatsu’s work on Pixiv.

    Wow, totally didn’t realize she was Azunyan until you pointed it out. Saten’s a bit more obvious.

    OMG, I never guess it was Azunyan at the first picture on my first glance… Btw, the pictures are really nice… ^^

    @Yi & Itachi
    Must admit I had to read the title on Pixiv as well to be sure it was Azusa.
    Ikari Manatsu creates nice illustrations.
