Anime fall season 2011

September 3, 2011

Looking at the fall anime season line up, seems like it will be a busy season with a long list of interesting series to watch! The two series I am most looking forward to are actually sequels, namely “Shinryaku!? Ika Musume” and “Working!!”.

Adored the first season of both these hilarious comedies and cannot wait to see more, am keen to discover which of these two shows will earn the best comedy of the season spot for which they no doubt will be prime contenders.

Adored the first season of “Shinryaku! Ika Musume”, the anime adaptation of the supernatural gag manga by Masahiro Anbe. Each episode of this show was hilarious, so am l quite excited about the second season.

Another epic comedy which gets a sequel is “Working’!!”, can’t wait to see more silly adventures of Wagnaria’s oddball crew. Though must confess am also hoping there will be plenty of trap action with the lovely Korori-chan!

Will definitely pick up “Tamayura ~hitotose~”. Originally an OVA by Sato Junichi of “Aria” fame, a full season television series of this lovely show simply cannot be missed.
Where the OVA lacked time to make it as enchanting as “Aria” was time, a full season should be plenty to pull the viewer into its wonderful reality and make them fall in love with its characters. Have high hopes for this series.

Quite curious about “Boku ha Tomodachi ga Sukunai”, originally a light novel series by Hirasaka Yomi which has already spawned two manga adaptations, this romantic comedy now receives the anime treatment.

Not sure yet if it will be able to transcend the mediocrity of most harem comedies of which there are so many each season, but am keen to watch it and find out! Plus it has Itou Kanae and Inoue Marina in the voice cast.

Not a sequel as such, “Last Exile: Ginyoku no Fam” is a new anime project taking place in the same world as “Last Exile”, a series that made quite an impression on me when it originally aired.

Was struck by the character designs of Range Murata, the unique world it took place in and the different atmosphere of the original series.

While always felt that the “Fate/stay night” never really lived up to its potential, definitely will watch “Fate/Zero”, the anime adaptation of Type Moon’s “Fate” prequel story.

Other shows that seem interesting to sample are “Ben-To”, the anime adaptation of a light novel series, its premise looks promising to provide some good comedy. Must say “Chihayafuru”, “Busou Shink Moon Angel”, “Mirai Nikki” and “Maken-Ki” sound interesting as well.

As if all those shows weren’t enough to satisfy one’s appetite for anime, there’s plenty of OVA’s, OAD’s and other specials, including those for “Hourou Musuko”, “Queen’s Blade”, “Usagi Drop”, “IS: Infinite Stratos”, “Seitokai Yakuindomo”… and let’s not forget the next “Gundam Unicorn” episode as well as more “Carnival Phantasm”.

What will you be watching next season?

    I’ll take Fate/Zero and Ika Musume. Ben-To sounds kinda stupid LoL I just get bored with all ecchi stuff~

    @DrCow
    Indeed! Usually there’s not that many shows on my watch list before a new season kicks off.

    Can understand that, “Ben-To” is one of those series that looks interesting to sample when reading the short synopsis, but it easily could turn out to be a crappy show. Will have to wait and see.

    ^^ Wieselhead will pick Guilty Crown, Un-Go, Persona 4, Fate/Zero, Working’!!, Last Exile, Tamayura, Shakugan no Shana III, Bento and Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai.
    After my first impressions I will probably drop a few because its a bit much to follow 😉

    Well the shows Im looking forward to the most are Shakugan no Shana III, I love this show, Fate/Zero and Mashiro Iro Symphony. Bento sounds like fun I think.

    I’m looking forward for BokuTomo, Fate/Zero and of course Ika Musume 2. I’ve had enough of 2 seasons of Shana (should have said I’ve had enough of Rie Kugimiya and her tsundere-ness) so I’m not putting much hope on that title. Now I wonder if we’ll get the 2nd season of Ookami-san.

    I think IM@S continues into the Autumn season.

    I saw and liked the first season of Shakugan no Shana but never bothered with the second (in part because I heard it’s a bit dragged out). Know a few people who’re into Persona so I may indeed just have to check out the Persona 4 anime too.
    @halfey
    Ookami-san did have a rather open end too, the light novels are ongoing as far as I know so another season is possible I gather.
    @Author
    I know nothing of the Idolm@ster games and didn’t want to watch that anime at all as I thought it’d be a waste of my time anyway but a few weeks back started to watch it on a whim and am quite strangely hooked on it. It’s not really a good show, but it’s surprisingly entertaining and some of the characters are a lot of fun.

    Fate/Zero for me, but not sure if anything else caught my eyes yet. I can’t believe they actually animated Mashiro Iro Symphony, the worst eroge game I have ever played.

    My most anticipated watches are also “sequels”… sort of. Ika Musume, Last Exile, and Tamayura. Should be fun!

    @Wolfheinrich
    Only “Fate/Zero”? Then it’ll be a light season for you. ^^
    @Yi
    Am very much looking forward to those three. But no “Working’!!”? It’s a pretty nice show.

    Chances are high that Guilty Crown, Chihayafuru, and Persona 4 are must watches. Now whether they’ll stay that way…

    @Justin
    Got curious about “Guilty Crown” recently, might check it out.
