Wife and Wife

Perhaps better known as “Fu-fu”, recently caught up with some of the latest chapters of the “ふ~ふ” manga by Minamoto Hisanari that is serialized in ‘Comic Yuri Hime S’ magazine. Hadn’t been keeping tabs on its more recent releases, so was a nice surprise to be able to read more of this lovely yuri manga.

After the first chapters establish the core plot of yuri couple Sumi and Kinana who have just moved in together, later chapters introduce us to Kinana’s older sister, their new neighbors Hayase and Komugi, who of course happen to be a yuri couple too.

Overall it’s a lovely, entertaining yuri manga whose highlights are the fluffy romance and light hearted comedy. If I were to fault the series anywhere, it would be for its more basic art style and barren panels which sometimes lack in being consistent.

This isn’t really a bother though as the fast pace and overall atmosphere make this manga a light read where you don’t tend to linger on the pages to relish in their art.

Minamoto Hisanari also publishes doujinshi with the circle Chou Armadillo Club, their C78 release was in fact a “Wife And Wife” prequel book retelling the story of how Sumi and Kinana met in high school.

Upon reading that prequel story, was struck by how the high school version of Sumi visually rather resembles Nodoka from “K-ON!”.

If you like cute and innocent yuri stories and don’t mind more basic manga art, then definitely recommend this series which will no doubt please every yuri fan with its cute antics and romantic scenes.
