Introducing Atsuko
Previously mentioned having made a sudden Dollfie Dream purchase and also shared a few teaser photos with you. Now it is time to properly introduce Atsuko, the new Dollfie Dream that joined my humble collection along with Saber Alter.
Chose the name 篤子 or Atsuko, with the kanji for 篤 meaning kind child. Opted for a name with 子 (ko) in it to fit with the names of my other Dollfie Dream.
A custom creation by Chachakulan based on the increasingly popular Volks DDH06 head, adored it right away when I first spotted it on Yahoo! Japan Auction.
Especially love the altered mouth sculpt, which strikes the perfect balance between an open mouth expression and a sweet smile.
Not all that often seen on Dollfie Dream are the included eyelashes, a terrific detail I have quickly grown fond of. Might customize my other DD with eyelashes in the future.
Considering Volks offers it as an accessory in their web store, wonder why it’s included by default on their character dolls?
When the DDH06 type head was originally released, kept an eye on customized versions of it by ももいろ＊マンボウ, a great face-up artist of whom I own DDH02 & DDH03 custom heads.
Wasn’t familiar with Chachakulan’s work, but this DDH06 head has the same level of detail and finish as ももいろ＊マンボウ, very impressive work.
Currently only have three stands for five dolls, so to securely display them two additional stands are required. Am pondering though where to purchase them, from Volks or from CoolCat?
Am not very satisfied with the quality of the Coolcat stand that I own, but Volks wooden base stands will easily cost twice as much including transport & customs fees.

Aw, congrats on the new girl. She has a lovely smile ^^. So you’re up to five now, huh? You’ve got me beat xD. I’ve got 5 heads but only 4 bodies at the moment >_<
I only have two stands, a CoolCat one and the DW one. I much prefer the DW one but it's also a bit pricier. I personally wouldn't get another CoolCat one ^^;

Thanks! To be honest I was going to stop at only Saber Alter which I had pre-ordered but this custom head was too gorgeous to pass up on. ^^;;
Interesting to see am not the only one who’s not all that fond of CoolCat’s stand, but it is cheaper indeed….
I do like the smile, though I think I would have preferred a little more details around the lower half of the eyeholes.

A large part of the eyeholes are actually blushed, so shows less black, no doubt why it may look like that.
