Sunset shrine maiden
Sharing a series of photos captured during sunset of Dollfie Dream Shizuko in Volks’ rendition of the traditional Japanese shrine maiden attire.
Like other typical Japanese clothing such as the kimono or yukata, I quite like the typical look of the 巫女 outfit with its red hakama and white haori.
Taken in a spot that allowed a softer light atmosphere which cast less harsh shadows compared to the photos that follow below, purposely opted to capture Shizuko on the side of the frame and had her face the outside.
With Shizuko facing to look out of the frame like this, feel it creates an entirely different mood. As if she isn’t merely looking away at something we cannot see, but facing away from the viewer, creating separation.
Next to that first photo in softer lighting and photos featuring lively contrast between bright sections lit by the setting sun’s rays and dark shadow areas, also snapped a few where most of the frame is cast in shadows, giving them a darker overall tone.
The DD sized miko outfit made by Volks while already released quite some time ago and of a rather basic design is one of the better outfits in the small selection of Volks gear that I do own.
While the haori is prone to wrinkling and the red cloth can stain, a nice plus for this outfit is that Volks included proper sandals. A welcome change from the many outfits Volks sells without any footwear, prompting customers to purchase and acquire matching footwear, increasing the overall cost.
Between the occasional Dollfie photography and completing repairs on the broken shoulder joints of Kyouko and Atsuko’s DDS body types, have neglected to process several photo sets. Considering some sets date from a while back, I need to remedy that soon!

Why no pictures of the footwear? 😛
Beautiful shots of Shizuko! ♥
@archangeli
Thanks. ^^
But true, I didn’t take any of the footwear. >_<
