More Gigabytes
Noticed some video files on one of my hard drives seemed to have corrupted sections as I tried to watch them. When copying those same files spawned read errors, knew I had to verify that hard drive.
Used HD Tune Pro (trial) to scan of the affected drive, a Samsung EcoGreen F2 1TB (model HD103SI) and alas the health check concluded the drive was failing. As its warranty had expired, decided to purchase a new one.
Ordered a Western Digital Green 2TB (model WD20EARX) from CoolBlue, as they had it in stock, though unfortunately at slightly higher price. Been a while since I used Western Digital drives, was satisfied with Samsung hard drives thus far.
Also purchased a Sandisk SDHC Extreme 16GB for my Canon 450D as well as a regular Sandisk micro SDHC 32GB from Amazon UK, who next to their convenient frustration free packaging & and super saver delivery are significantly cheaper for such storage compared to locally based online stores.
Last but not least, bought a Hitachi Touro 500GB drive for portable needs. Hope that will have enough free Gigabytes of space to fill for a while.
