Seitokai no Ichizon Lv 2
Adapted from the “生徒会の一存” light novel series written by Sekina Aoi, the first season of “Seitokai no Ichizon” already aired back in 2009 and the series is now back for a second season.
For “Seitokai no Ichizon Lv 2”, studio AIC takes over from studio Deen and the episodes air online at niconico. With another studio and character designer at the helm, it’s no surprise there are visible differences in animation style between both seasons.
After these first few episodes must say though that the animation and character design style differences aren’t too apparent and not bothersome in any way, there is definite visual continuity.
What luckily did not change at all is the show’s comedy style. While it is not the same type of comedy series as “Seitokai Yakuindomo”, “Seitokai no Ichizon” offers excellent humor and often breaks the fourth wall. Also appreciate how it offers a more serious subplot and character development underneath its comedic surface.
Enjoyed how the first episode was focused on Ken, elaborating on how he managed to become valedictorian, the requirement to join the student council. Quite liked his interaction with Minase, how meeting her influenced him for the better, not unlike how his previous encounters with each of the student council girls changed his life.
Next to animation studio changes, there are some changes in the voice cast. Mafuyu is now voiced by Nomizu Iori, she previously voiced FNC in “Upotte!”, Haruna in “Kore wa Zombie desu ka?” and Nymph in “Sora no Otoshimono”. Mature but sadistic Chizuru is now voiced by Mina instead of Saitou Yuka, Mina also voiced FAL in “Upotte!”, Kanami in “Kore wa Zombie desu ka?” and Mitsuki in “Sora no Otoshimono”.
Student council president Kurimu is still voiced by Honda Mariko who previously voiced Yuuko in “Nichijou” and Galil in “Upotte!”. Togashi Misuzu reprises her role as tomboyish Minatsu, she tackled roles like Yukiteru in “Mirai Nikki”, Mai in “Nichijou” and Ichiroku in “Upotte!”.
Ken is once more voiced by Kondo Takashi, he voiced Claude in “Ikoku Meiro no Croisée”. Bespectacled Minase from the first episode is voiced by Kosuge Mami, she also voiced Izumi in “Nichijou” and G3 in “Upotte!”. Mamiko Noto voices Lilicia from the journalism club, she previously voiced Shimako in “Maria-sama ga Miteru”, Tomoe in “Queen’s Blade” and Saya in “Black★Rock Shooter “.
Must confess my memories of the events from the first season are a bit hazy, but the first episode of the second season covers the basics any viewer needs to know to follow this sequel. Quite enjoyed “Seitokai no Ichizon Lv 2” so far and will keep on watching this excellent comedy.
You’re watching it in 360p x264? Really?
I’ll wait thanks. It’s worth it

Sure the resolution from the niconico broadcast is rather small, but I’ve been watching anime for a while so such resolutions aren’t that foreign to me. XD
