Kantoku C83 doujin ‘Tachiyomi Senyou 32’

January 24, 2013

At the winter Comiket event, renowned artist Kantoku from “Afterschool of the 5th Year” released the ‘Tachiyomi Senyou Vol 32’ doujin, a book featuring characters from various anime which aired that season.

With illustrations of characters from “Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai”, “Sword Art Online”, “To Love-Ru Darkness”, “Robotics;notes”, “K”, “Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun” and “Jormungand”, it has plenty of variety and offers something for everyone.

Not all images collected in it are daring like this rendering of sensual Momo from “To Love-Ru Darkness” though, there’s plenty of cute images in it too, as well as illustrations that convey action.

Compared to the previous ‘Tachiyomi Senyou’ release which contained mostly pages of black & white line art, this new book features plenty of full color images of the various series that Kantoku chose to illustrate.

Volume 31 of ‘Tachiyomi Senyou’ already dates back to summer 2011 and featured art from shows like “Puella Magi Madoka Magica”, “Gosick” and “Shinryaku! Ika Musume”, almost feels like an eternity since I saw those series.

Traditional for doujin works from Afterschool of the 5th Year, the book closes off with several pages of black & white line art and pencil type sketches of illustrations that Kantoku previously created for other publications like E☆2.

While I do love seeing art of Kantoku’s mascot girls Kurumi and Shizuku, it is refreshing to see this artist render characters from various franchises in his typical style.

If you’re interested in Kantoku’s C83 book, you can purchase it at Toranoana.
