Good Smile Company at Made in Asia 5

March 15, 2013

In the previous post about the Made in Asia 5 convention that was held last weekend, briefly mentioned having worked at the Good Smile Company booth during the event.

While Good Smile Company has been attending anime otaku related events in Asia for some time already, their official branch in France has now begun to venture into attending such events in Europe.

Am grateful to have gotten the opportunity to work with the Good Smile Company crew who for the first time brought their lovely figures, figma and nendoroid directly to the fans in Belgium.

Not only displaying their products, they also offered many for sale including exclusive scaled figures like the Ultimate Madoka, Homura Akemi, Racing Miku 2011, Saber Motored Cuirassier but also nendoroids like Sakura Miku & Snow Miku: Strawberry White Kimono version.

Many other products were stocked, like the epic Miku “Love is War” or Miku “World is Mine” Vocaloid figures, the rerelease of Ryougi Shiki or nendoroids like Inori Yuzuha, Marika Kato, Saber Lily and Saber Lion. Of course, there were also some figures by Phat! as well as figma by Max Factory like Shubuya Rin, Futaba Anzu, Princess of the Crystal and Saber Zero version.

Considering the Belgians fans were previously always limited to a select few trustworthy stores lest they fall prey to shady sales booths that offer bootleg products, it’s a very welcome change that one of Japan’s top figure makers attends a convention here.

While meeting and working with the Good Smile Company France crew by itself was already a terrific experience, it was very rewarding to interact with fellow fans who were thrilled to be able to buy these lovely figures directly from GSC at competitive prices.

Missed out on buying at Made in Asia? You can always purchase a selection of goods directly from the Good Smile Company Store. If you are looking for other reliable sources, you can check out online stores like Archonia in Belgium or La Cité des Nuages and Alix Online in France.

French speaking fans looking for Good Smile Company news can always visit Maritan’s blog as well as have a peek at Shadonia’s coverage of Made in Asia 5.

Now if only Alter and Kotobukiya would bring their products directly to conventions in Europe too, that’d be truly fantastic!

Next will be a report on meeting with the comrades from Shadonia for a Dollfie Dream gathering at Made in Asia.

    Looks really nice there. would of loved to of seen some of those figures.

    I do have the Ultimate Madoka Figure. It hasn’t left the box yet though, it was a lot bigger than I assumed and it does not fit into my display case ^^

    @Dave
    The Ultimate Madoka is quite big and the box even bigger! Though the Saber Motored Cuirassier box was huge as well.

    I’m gonna attend Made in Asia this year mainly for GSC and I was wondering: how do you buy a figure? Do you like walk up to the counter and ask them, or do you get a folder or something? Really curious.

    Yes, it’s as easy as that. At MIA just go to the Good Smile Company booth, they will have all the available/for sale goods advertised on large posters and you can buy those you want right there at the booth. 🙂

    Thank you for replying. Just a little more, which languages do they speak? Only French?

    @Littlelion
    They speak English (and Japanese!) too.
    Also, I’m scheduled to work on the booth as a volunteer again this year and I also speak Dutch. 🙂
