Yuusha ni Narenakatta Ore wa Shibushibu Shuushoku o Ketsui Shimashita
Also known as “Yuushibu”, this new anime is based on the “勇者になれなかった俺はしぶしぶ就職を決意しました。” light novels written by Sakyou Jun.
Set in an alternate reality where modern society is permeated with fantasy elements like demons and magic, the story revolves around every day work life of Raul, Fino and their colleagues in the electronics store ‘Magic Shop Leon’.
The added twist is that Raul, who actually wanted to become a hero but saw those dreams shattered when the demon lord was defeated before he could even graduate hero school, is now tasked to train new staff member Fino who is none other than the demon lord’s daughter!
With that synopsis “Yuushibu” sounded like “Hataraku Maou-sama!”, so was keen on trying out this series and did enjoy watching the first episode. However, it’s clear that this series will only offer ecchi fanservice and some uninspired harem comedy.
One could perhaps describe “Yuushibu” as a mad mashup of every day life in the work place as seen in “Servant x Service” or “Working!!”, mixed with with the fantasy elements of “Hataraku Maou-sama!” all brought in a nonsensical style similar to “Haiyore! Nyaruko-san”.
Alas, this new series is nothing like “Hataraku Maou-sama!”, “Servant x Service” or “Working!!” as it lacks the comedy flair, quirky characters and appealing character interaction these three shows do posses.
As the footage used for the displayed screenshots suggests, one of this show’s main pillars seems to be copious fanservice with a definite preference for female characters with massive bossoms that defy the known laws of physics, often in truly ridiculous ways.
Advertised as a harem comedy, have little doubt most episodes will be focused on the male lead’s interaction with the various girls, more than anything shall no doubt result in ecchi scenes flaunting the girls curvaceous shapely bodies.
Did appreciate how the show suggested that what we know as electronics, are actually powered by some form of magic in this reality. Depending on how (and if) they elaborate on that, could lead to interesting scenes that paint a reality vastly different than ours and offer some excellent comedy that way.
There is plenty of potential for excellent interaction and character development between Fino & Raul, but the pair lacks any of the chemistry that Lucy & Hasebe from “Servant x Service” or Mao & Emi from “Hataraku Maou-sama!” have.
Hence, do fear that this series will amount to nothing more than a run of the mill harem comedy with rather bland characters and nonsensical comedy in the style of the lesser episodes of “Haiyore! Nyaruko-san” or “Oniichan no Koto Nanka Zenzen Suki Janain Dakara ne!!”.
If you are looking for a harem comedy with plenty of ecchi scenes and silly shenanigans like “Haiyore! Nyaruko-san”, then by all means do watch this show, it will offer just that.
If that’s not what you’re looking for, then stay away from this series as “Yuusha ni Narenakatta Ore wa Shibushibu Shuuhoku o Ketsui Shimashita” is only intended for fans specifically intended on watching such an ecchi series, a style of show that will likely not appeal to the casual anime viewer.
