Microsoft moe themes in Windows 8.1

December 5, 2013

For the release of Windows 8 last year, Microsoft Japan introduced Madobe Yuu & Madobe Ai, mascots of the new operating system, they included theme packs of the new Madobe girls with select versions of Windows 8.

A question that fans of the older mascots like Windows 7’s Madobe Nanami, cloud service Azure’s Madobe Claudia and the five Bing girls Nanae, Nana, Nanako, Nanami and Nanao may have is: do their themes still work in Windows 8.1?

Rest assured that even though there are differences between the desktop environment of Windows 7 and that of Windows 8.1, those themes work just fine in Windows 8.1 too.

So if you’re keen on using another moe theme than that of Yuu or Ai, you can still easily enjoy Nanami’s original theme or one of the themes featuring the Bing girls.

How to activate such a theme? Simply double-click on the theme file itself or right-click on your desktop, click on “Personalize” and then select the desired theme in the “Personalisation” window.
