THE iDOLM@STER: Cinderella Girls

January 12, 2015

Having enjoyed the first “THE iDOLM@STER” anime, decided to watch the franchise’s new series “THE iDOLM@STER: Cinderella Girls”, adapted from the mobile game that introduces many new idols next to the original 765 Production girls.

If the first episode is any indication, “THE iDOLM@STER: Cinderella Girls” will be an excellent idol series, with plenty of slice-of-life, comedy, lots of music but also show us the various adventures these cute girls will go through on their journey to become idols.

While there might be a few dramatic subplots focusing on the girls overcoming hurdles, the overall tone of the series will undoubtedly be positive and uplifting.

Animation by A-1 Pictures is excellent with lots of attention going to portraying the girls as cute as possible, but some of the background scenery and lighting was quite impressive too. Was quite pleased to see the character design style and animation match that of “THE iDOLM@STER”, no doubt thanks to the fact studio A-1 Pictures and many of the creative staff also worked on that anime.

Considering the first episode was all about Rin and Uzuki, with some screentime for Mio, personally do hope the show will keep most of its focus on this trio as they are far more appealing characters to me compared to some of the other ‘Cinderella Girls’ like Anzu or Rika.

Will definitely keep on watching this anime and have high hopes it will be one of the more enjoyable series this season.
