Spotted this series in the winter season line-up, became curious about it after reading the story synopsis and decided to give “Rolling☆Girls” a try after seeing its promotional video which suggested it might be a rather unique and energetic anime not unlike “Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann” and “KILL la KILL”.

While this original anime by Wit studio does feel similar to studio Trigger’s eclectic “KILL la KILL” and “Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann” or even “FLCL” from studio Ganiax thanks to its flashy visual style and crazy plot, it might also become comparable to those studios’ signature series due to its coming-of-age story.

Enjoyed the first few episodes, was glad to see focus shift from action and fighting to the main characters coming together to set off on that will no doubt become the journey of their lifetime. Am anxious to discover the adventures these four girls will share on their journey.

For now, am unsure if “Rolling☆Girls” will take a more serious turn or become darker along the way, do hope it remains positive and light enough in tone overall, but am mostly concerned that the plot might become lost in its convoluted world setting.

If you’re looking for an anime to watch this season that is somewhat different from the others or you like the typical Gainax works or similarly styled shows, then do give “Rolling☆Girls” a try.
