Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Comedy wa Machigatteiru. Zoku
The light novel series “やはり俺の青春ラブコメはまちがっている。” written by Watari Wataru already spawned a first anime adaptation that aired in the spring of 2013. Now two years later, a second season has begun, picking up the story of the anime adaptation pretty much right were the first season had ended.
Quite liked the first anime incarnation of “Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Comedy wa Machigatteiru”, especially the excellent verbal banter between Yukino and Hikigaya, along with the traptastic shenanigans of irresistibly cute Saika.
Must confess I actually had to look up some of the major events of the first season to recall what had happened, which may indicate that while I did enjoy “Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Comedy wa Machigatteiru” it did not make much of an impact on me and was a somewhat forgettable show.
While the first season was animated by studio Brain’s Base, this second season is done by studio Feel, with a clearly visible difference between both. Nonetheless, even though this sequel is created by a different studio, character designer and director, the atmosphere which is one of this series’ key elements is quite similar and the design discrepancies are often minor and not bothersome at all.
In fact, what I noticed most was that Yukino’s facial traits seemed much sharper, colder in the first season, while her features look softer now.
Will keep on watching this sequel as am keen to include such enjoyable anime on my weekly to watch list.
