Futsuu no Joshikousei ga [Locodol] Yatte Mita Christmas OVA

Locodols Yukari & Nanyako… I mean Nanako are back with a brand new Christmas themed OVA. This is the second OVA of the “Futsuu no Joshikousei ga [Locodol] Yatte Mita” idol anime which set itself apart from other idol shows by being a lighthearted comedy devoid of any real drama but instead focused more on slice-of-life content.

In line with the silly shenanigans Yukari, Nanako and their friends encountered in the regular episodes that aired on television, this OVA too is a rather plain tale depicting the girls’ Christmas activities. Even though it may seem ordinary, it is nonetheless a heartwarming story, enjoyable to watch largely due to the lovely bond between Yukari & Nanako, who fit perfect together and have great chemistry.

Yuri aficionados will likely desire to see more blossom between Nanako & Yukari, but its doubtful the franchise will ever dare go past some superficial innuendo.

Although the “Futsuu no Joshikousei ga [Locodol] Yatte Mita” Christmas OVA does not achieve the same level as any of the other anime I watched on Christmas, including “Love Live! The School Idol Movie” or “Aria the Avvenire ~capitolo 1~”, and is eclipsed by those titles that boast better storytelling, pacing and animation, it is nonetheless an entertaining and enjoyable anime to watch.
