Tales of Zestiria the X
For my weekly dose of adventure oriented anime am counting on “Tales of Zestiria the X” this summer, the anime based on the “テイルズ オブ ゼスティリア” role-playing game from the ‘Tales’ game franchise.
Although I have not played the original game this anime is based on, had to give this show a try knowing studio ufotable was producing the anime, was curious to discover what striking backgrounds they would draw for such a vast fantasy world, also keen on seeing the battle sequences considering the studio’s excellent work on “Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works” and “Fate/Zero”.
Been impressed by “Tales of Zestiria the X” so far, it has been everything I seek in a classic, solid fantasy adventure anime with obvious role-playing game roots. Who knows, might just pick up the game afterwards if the anime turns out to be very good, almost fully completed “The Witcher 3” and its expansions anyway.
Most appreciated that “Tales of Zestiria the X” spent most episodes so far building up the world setting and introducing the main characters, considering its role-playing game origins it could all become rather confusing if they rush through the opening story chapters to get to the action, neglecting the importance of building up the plot and characters.
Was confused though when they took a break from the main story-line to feature a few episodes on “Tales of Berseria”, the most recent ‘Tales’ game that takes place in the same world but in a past era.
However, considering the show’s current pace and the fact it will spend some episodes on another story, do wonder if they will be able to dedicate sufficient time on the supporting cast and further delve into the story. Especially knowing that “Tales of Zestiria the X” is slated for a thirteen episode season, which may result in undeveloped characters or cut story lines. Nonetheless, am curious to watch the rest of this series and am confident it will be a nice adventure anime.
I love this show (*^▽^)/
The setting is quite interesting, there are also likeable characters and the looks of Fate Zero. The balance between menacing and positive atmosphere is very good so far.
I hope there is a second season planned for it, otherwise I will probably buy the game.
Taking a nosedive into Tales of Berseria was a bit misleading, I have no idea of the purpose behind it so far. Also ales of Berseria had more fanservice XD Alisha is a cool princess, but my favorite character is Lailah with her gentle heart, her outfit is simply gorgeous as well.

Am also tempted to check out the game if the anime turns out to be good overall. Especially considering I’m almost through with “The Witcher3” its expansions, will probably be looking out for a new game to play soon.
