Kantoku C90 bonus doujin ‘Tachoyomi Petit’

September 2, 2016

Next to the ‘Underwear Party’ doujin sold at C90, artist Kantoku from the circle ‘Afterschool of the 5th Year’ also released several limited goods including a rough sketch bonus book titled ‘Tachiyomi Petit’.

Similar to Kantoku’s typical ‘Tachiyomi Senyou’ publications which feature illustrations of characters from various current or popular anime franchise, the ‘Tachiyomi Petit’ book contains full page rough sketches of characters from series like “Hibike! Euphonium”, “Kuma Miko”, “Girls und Panzer”, “Himouto! Umaru-chan”, and more.

This rough sketch doujin is more akin to a booklet due to its lower page count, but considering it is a bonus book, this is understandable.

Do hope it is a real preview of upcoming material to appear in the next full ‘Tachiyomi Senyou’ doujin considering the sketches featured in ‘Tachiyomi Petit’ are sublime.

Am impressed with this excellent sketch of Mokoto from “Ghost in the Shell: Arise” because Kantoku manages to perfectly merge the previous designs of Motoko as seen in “Ghost in the Shell: Stand-Alone Complex” with the altered look she was given in “Ghost in the Shell: Arise”. At least, in this sketch version.

Was never much of a fan of Mokoto’s new look in “Ghost in the Shell: Arise”, am in fact more keen on this single sketch because it shows what she might have looked like if they had stayed closer to the original design styles.

A lovely “Girls und Panzer” sketch by Kantoku of the girls from the anglerfish team and the captains from the other major senshadou clubs. Love how Kantoku rendered the girls, especially how the facial expressions and smiles of Miho, Yukari, Saori, Hana & Mako perfectly capture their respective characters.

Do hope we will one day see the full colour finished version of this art work.

Adorable illustration of Kumiko & Reina from “Hibike! Euphonium” in Kantoku’s typical design style which shows us a more cutesy version of these girls compared to their look in the anime.

If you are interested in acquiring Kantoku’s publications, you can purchase those releases that are still in stock online at Toranoana.
