New K-ON!! character Miura Akane?
Saw an entry at Japanator advertising a new character to appear in “K-ON!!”, the second season of the music comedy based on the manga by Kakifly that is due to start airing this April. Called Miura Akane, the girl sports a long ponytail and apparently plays the tuba.
Considering the official “K-ON!!” anime series website has not published anything about a new character so far, nor has its character page been updated and other news sites like ANN have not mentioned a new “K-ON!!” character yet it might very well be a hoax.
Due to the size and quality of the images, can’t make out much of the text very well, so am unable to say for sure if they are legitimate or not. Though looking at the second image from the original tweet seen at Japanator, it does look fabricated, such as where Miura is picking up her tuba, seems like an edit of Yui where she has the exact same pose.
So will we see Miura appear in “K-ON!!” or is it a mere hoax or joke?
Well, alas for the hopeful she seems just to be a fan creation, but there’s already plenty of gorgeous art of Miura to be found online.
A question to fans, would you like to see new anime original characters in the second season?

The Japanese wikipedia doesn’t mention her either. I think there are two possibilities:
a) original anime character, thus it would make sense if she doesn’t appear anywhere if she hasn’t’ appeared in the manga, and kyoani wants to play a little with us
b) hoax by someone who’s too bored. I think this is the case, but who knows

Yeah, the first image looks fairly legitimate, but the second one not really, kind of suspect it’s a hoax. Though would be nice to see a new generation of けいおん girls join Azusa when the four original members graduate.

Well New school years = new freshmen. I wouldn’t say it’s impossible for a new character to appear, but a tuba seems like a weird instrument to be throwing into the club.
It’d be cool if they added a new character. If they did that for every season, they’d have an 8 girl band by season 4.
Obviously the biggest sign this is a hoax is the supposed seiyuu – Yaguchi Mari. I mean lol yeah sure, a former member of Morning Musume in K-ON!

I don’t remember seeing a new character in the manga… But I did drop the manga a while ago though.

If it’s real, she would be the same year as Azusa though, judging from the color of her bow.

Exactly, a tuba is too unrealistic for her to be anything but a comic relief character. A saxophone maybe, other drummer or piano/synthesizer I’d say is possible for sure, but a tuba?

Yaguchi Mari would not be impossible, I mean “K-ON!” is immensely popular, second season will air on 28 channels, so financially and popularity-wise in Japan it’s a very viable series to feature. Plus didn’t Yaguchi Mari voice in a “One Piece” movie already?

According to the hoax it would be the tuba. But if they were to really add a new character I reckon it’d be a more fitting instrument.

Nonetheless, it’s been pretty much establishes Akane is a fan created character and as such a hoax.
But who knows, if they decide to include original material or an original ending, they might introduce new characters…
i agree with meh.. but then, i’ve seen some albums of this akane same as the one with the k-on! but so far, i was confused, the k-on! didn’t released their new album yet but this akane has her own? and also, why does she have solo album, the others has their album at the k-on! album altogether….

Because those are all fan created. Akane is a character created by the fans as a hoax, a joke, she’s not made by Kakifly so she hasn’t really appeared in the manga or anime (chances are, she won’t). ^^;;
Um, her hair is pink. Everyone else has natural hair colors. Anyone consider that?!
