Joshiraku
To fully enjoy watching the cute girls in this anime, it is otherwise filled with unobtrusive and ordinary dialogue. Based on the satirical comedy manga by Kumeta Kouji with art by Yasu, “じょしらく” follows the story of five rakugo girls who fill their days with idle talk that often leads to absurd conversations.
Heavy on dialogue, full of verbal wit and word play, “Joshiraku” is geared towards a Japanese native speaker audience, much more so than the average anime. As such it might not be that enjoyable to the average anime fan outside of Japan.
While I’ve enjoyed the series quite a bit so far, cannot deny that most of the verbal finesse in it is beyond me.
No real big names in the voice cast. Tetora is voiced by Yamamoto Nozomi, she voiced Yukimurra in “Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai” and Erika in “Tsuritami”. Feisty Marii is voiced by Sakura Ayane, she voiced Merry in “Yumekui Merry” and Anzu in “Kokoro Connect”.
Goto Saori voices the unlucky Kukuru, she voiced Yuzuru in “Maria†Holic”, Karen in “Sky Girls”, Moeka in “Steins;Gate” and Keiko in “Minami-ke”. Bespectacled Gankyou is voiced by Nanjou Yoshino, she tackled roles like Nene in “Penguin Musume♥Heart” and Kokoro in “Tantei Opera Milky Holmes”. Seeming newcomer Koiwai Kotori voices Kigurumi.
Even though it is more challenging to keep up with this show, will keep on watching it, simply because I am weak against series showing cute girls their daily shenanigans.
This has been the only cute girls series where I can actually enjoy watching it. I don’t know why. Well. If you’ve just recently started watching it, by Ep 4 you might just go crazy in enjoyment. I think.
@Justin
It’s been a really fun show with a good mix of satirical comedy with absurd situation comedy, all of course with the cute girls! XD
The heavy play on words, while lovely, bars foreign viewers like me who only has entry level Japanese. It’s a shame because I was fairly interested i this after seeing its super adorable OP.
@Yi
Indeed, while I watch and enjoy the cute girls and verbal banter, most of the language finesse simply goes over my head.
