Koufuku Graffiti

January 16, 2015

Was very much looking forward to “Koufuku Graffiti”, the new winter anime adapted from the four panel manga “幸腹グラフィティ” by Kawai Makoto, a slice-of-life comedy all about high school girl Ryou, her love for cooking, and her friends.

Adore slice-of-life shows, especially those all about cute girls leisurely going about their daily lives, hence had no doubt that “Koufuku Graffiti” would appeal to me. The first two episodes were terrific, the main characters are cute and endearing, the atmosphere heartwarming and soothing, the animation is top notch and the music excellent.

Although one might wonder about studio Shaft being at the creative helm, from the first episode on it is clear they are the best choice to animate a leisurely slice-of-life show that centers around the character’s love for cooking and eating delicious cuisine.

The scenes where Ryou showcases her cooking or those where she, Kirin and their friends are eating delicious meals with delight will make any viewer water their mouths and crave eating such appetizing food too. No one can resist such appealing and well rendered anime food porn.

Definitely recommend this lovely show to all fans of slice-of-life series or those of you keen on watching a heartwarming, leisurely anime. For me personally, “Koufuku Graffiti” is the top contender for best anime of the season and might even best “Kantai Collection: KanColle”.
