Spring is here

April 1, 2010

The weather was great last Saturday, it was surprisingly warm and the sun was out for most of the day, it really felt like spring had finally come round!

Seeing all those fresh blossoms, new leaves on the trees, budding flowers, took my Canon 450D to snap a few photos and record this refreshing atmosphere.

Like making photos such as these, with lots of bokeh and focusing on a specific subject. Though do wonder if I need to work more on clever and creative composition, my photos probably lack there.

Tried to get a back-lit effect of these branches while the sun was hidden behind a few cumulus clouds.

Except for this particular photo which was taken with the Canon 100mm macro, made the others with the Canon EF-S 15-85mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM lens.

Both lenses were equipped with a Tiffen polarizing filter and respective model lens hood.

Even spotted a large bumble bee already out and about to feast on the pollen from these tiny flowers.

Read about a large flower exhibit being held here in April, might try and go just for the photo opportunities.

    hisashiburi~ gads, looks like you got that 15-85 over a month ago? i’m so behind orz

    browsing through some of your previous posts looks like the new lens is treating you well ^^ think i like the first and last pics of this post the best.

    i’m planning on getting a better general purpose zoom this year… though i’m waiting to see if they come out with an IS version of the 24-70 (though I’m worried that it would be out of my budget, delaying the purchase further ^^;)

    @meronpan
    Got it a few weeks ago but haven’t used it all that much yet actually. Hope to use it more as the weather improves.
    @Fabrice
    Really? Here’s it gotten colder and rainy again. Not sure I’ll be able to do any decent hanami or cherry blossom seeing this year.
    @TaikutsuJoker
    It’s the new leaves on a bush in the garden, not sure what it’s called. Does have very distinct red branches though.
    Sure I’d love to exchange blog links. ^^

    Very cool, it’s starting to get warm outside by me too. Still deciding if I want to take my girls outside for photo shoot or not.

    Looking forward to any outdoor shoots you might do. Must be quite the organization when taking along so many DD’s.
