Yoko and Shizuko in the garden

July 31, 2010

With the recent arrival of some items from Dollmore, the clothes from Puppy52Dolls that hadn’t been showcased yet and the good weather, wanted to do a photoshoot of the girls in their new summer outfits.

Although the weather was terrific with mild temperatures, there were lots of white cumulus clouds drifting by, often changing the lighting conditions from sunny to overcast.

To make the scene more lively, used two garden ornaments that mimic amphora, which also allow for the Dollfie Dream dolls to sit on or lean against.

Yoko is wearing a white top created by Chun from Puppy52Dolls fashion with a checkered pattern skirt, lacy leggings and white boots from Dollmore. Shizuko is sporting a peasant top and hot pants from Puppy52Dolls with white sandals from Dollmore.

Did have the peasant top and hot pants from Puppy52Dolls for some time now as due to the horrendous hold up of Shizuko at customs, it arrived well before she did and once Shizuko herself got here, had to look for suitable shoes to match with the outfit.

The sandals from Dollmore are from their SD sized clothing section so a good fit for Dollfie Dream, the checkered skirt is from their ‘Model Woman’ line and as such proved too big for Shizuko’s DDII type body.

Although had initially intended to get that skirt for Shizuko, realized there was a definite risk that it might be too big for her, luckily it does fit Yoko well, thanks to the DDDy body’s more generous curves.

The white boots were advertised as SD size but they turned out rather big, wonder if they sent me a larger size instead?

Originally sought out that white top for Yoko to wear underneath the Volks Gangster set jacket to create a more modest look like a teacher or office lady, but it does look great on her as a light summertime top, accentuating her bust line without being overly revealing.

While overcast can be excellent to make terrific neutral photos thanks to the natural filter that cloud cover can create, the quick alternation between sunshine and cloudy that day resulted into photos taken both with sunshine as under cloud cover.

That explains the difference you may see between some of the photos in terms of lighting and color ambiance.

To prevent having dark, shadowed faces that come out unclear and full of noise for the Dollfie Dream dolls when the sun was shining, used a reflector to redirect some of the light back onto their faces.

The reflector used was a plain one made form a sheet of cardboard to which I taped some aluminum foil, not the best yet it did the job more than well enough.

Although it was challenging to correctly refract light on both Yoko and Shizuko. Will have to look into getting a decent reflector.

Noticed too late for those shots that the breeze had blow several stray hairs on Yoko’s face, a shame.

Made plenty more photos of Yoko and Shizuko in the garden which you can see in my Dollfie photo collection on Flickr.

    @chun
Loving your designs for the girls. Quite happy with the sandals, the boots are nice too but they seemed a bit too heavy for the summer atmosphere so took them off midway the shoot.

Thanks. On uneven ground like that stability can be an issue, so those amphorae give them something to lean on.

Nice pics and I like their outfits! ^^ Sounds like your reflector is more advanced than mine. I just use a big white piece of poster-paper xD

That’d work just fine too, I just didn’t have any large sturdy pieces of white paper/cardboard around, hence I used foil.
